Dr. Edgardo E. Tulin

Dr. Edgardo E. Tulin, the former President of the Visayas State University (VSU) obtained his BS degree in Agriculture major in Agricultural Chemistry at VSU, then Visayas State College of Agriculture. He earned a Master of Science in Biochemical Engineering from University College London and a Ph.D. in Agricultural Science (Bioreaction Engineering) from Nagoya University, Japan. Dr. Tulin is a recipient of the Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award in 2014 accorded by the Civil Service Commission. In 2009, he was given the Best Mentor in Health Research Award by the Philippine National Health Research System. In 2023, Dr. Tulin received the prestigious ICONS Award of the Commission on Higher Education for his efforts and commitment for internationalization of higher education. Likewise, in 2024, he was recognized as one of the Filipino Faces of Biotechnology by the Department of Agriculture Biotechnology Program Office for his exceptional contributions, unwavering dedication, and outstanding leadership in advancing agricultural biotechnology.
