
Michael Sng
Michael Sng has over 40 years of experience in building businesses in finance, undertaking financial transactions and forging relationships with business founders and corporations across Southeast Asia. He spent 16 years at Schroders where he held various senior positions, established Schroders’ businesses in Malaysia and was appointed as Schroder’s first country head of Malaysia. He was also responsible for the financial markets division for Southeast Asia as its head and held board directorships at Schroders Singapore and Malaysia. In 1999, Michael was head hunted to establish UOB Asia, the investment banking subsidiary of UOB where he successfully built its entire investment banking business with presence in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. Following which, he initiated the establishment of TAEL Partners in 2007. As the CEO & Managing Partner, he has led the firm to make investments totalling more than US$1.6 billion in Southeast Asia. He has also made several impact investments in Thailand, Timor Leste and Philippine. He is also the founding governor of three schools, St Joseph’s Institution International in Singapore and Malaysia, schools of the Lasalle Brothers and Stonyhurst Penang, sister school of the oldest Jesuit school in the world, Stonyhurst College, UK. Michael graduated from National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in economics and sociology.
