Cherrie Atilano is the Founding Farmer and former Executive Director of Agrea Foundation, a globally award-winning organization dedicated to ending poverty among farming and fishing communities in the Philippines while building sustainable and inclusive food systems. With more than 20 years of experience, she has championed regenerative agriculture, nutrition security, and inclusive agribusiness, beginning her journey at just 12 years old when she started teaching farmers. A Magna Cum Laude graduate in Agriculture from Visayas State University, she has since earned numerous distinctions, including The Outstanding Women in Nation’s Service Award (2016), The Outstanding Young Men (2018) and recognition as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum (2020). She currently serves as a UN Food Security and Nutrition Ambassador and as a member of the World Bank’s Solutions for Youth Employment Advisory Board. Under her leadership, AGREA has pioneered transformative initiatives such as the AGREA Rescue Kitchen and Move Food Initiative, which provided critical support to food-insecure families during the COVID-19 pandemic. She is a strong advocate of women economic empowerment.
