On February 27, 2026, we gathered at The Ministry for an evening that transcended celebration—it was a homecoming, a reflection, and a recommitment. Together with over a hundred partners, friends, and advocates who have walked alongside us, we marked the 10th Year Anniversary of AGREA Foundation, a decade dedicated to boldly changing the narrative of agriculture in the Philippines. This milestone is not merely about the passage of time; it is about the accumulation of impact, the deepening of relationships, and the unwavering belief that a different future for farming is not only possible but already unfolding.
What began as a bold vision has blossomed into a vibrant community of changemakers working hand in hand to strengthen food security, build resilient and inclusive value chains, and create opportunities where they are needed most. When we started this journey ten years ago, we dared to imagine an agriculture sector where farmers are valued, where women lead with confidence, where youth see farming as a viable career, and where no one is left behind in the pursuit of prosperity. Today, as we reflect on a decade of work, we see that vision taking root in communities across the Philippines—from the coconut farms of Marinduque to the fishing villages of Siargao, from the rice fields of Negros to the emerging agricultural enterprises of Mindanao.

This celebration was a tribute to every farmer who trusted us with their land and their stories, to every partner who believed in our mission when it was still unproven, to every volunteer who gave their time and talent, and to every institution that provided the support needed to scale impact. We honored the women who transformed from subsistence farmers into agricultural entrepreneurs through our Women Food Producers Association. We celebrated the youth who chose to stay in their communities and build careers in agriculture rather than migrate to urban centers. We recognized the cooperatives that grew stronger through our training programs and market linkages. And we acknowledged the government agencies, development partners, and private sector allies who understood that transforming agriculture requires collaboration, not competition.

Throughout the evening, we were reminded that real transformation happens when purpose meets collaboration, and when we choose to stand with those who feed our nation. Every partnership formed over the past decade has strengthened our capacity to serve. Every farmer supported has validated our approach. Every young leader inspired has given us hope for the future. These are not abstract achievements; they are lived experiences that have shaped who we are as an organization and who we aspire to become. We have learned that sustainable change cannot be imposed from the outside; it must be cultivated from within communities, honoring local knowledge while introducing innovative practices that enhance productivity and resilience.
As Ms. Christine Jodloman, our Executive Director, shared during the evening: "The next decade calls us to be even bolder. To deepen our impact, to strengthen inclusive food systems, to continue changing the narrative not just in agriculture but in how we value those who feed our nation." These words captured both our gratitude for the past and our commitment to the future. The next ten years will require us to scale what works, to innovate where gaps remain, and to advocate for policies that recognize agriculture as the foundation of national security and economic stability. We must reach more farmers, empower more women, inspire more youth, and build more resilient food systems that can withstand the challenges of climate change, market volatility, and social inequity.

Looking ahead, we recommit to deepening impact, scaling solutions, and continuing the fight for a stronger agricultural sector and a food-secure Philippines. This means expanding our training programs to reach underserved communities, strengthening our market linkages to ensure farmers receive fair prices, investing in regenerative agriculture practices that protect our environment, and advocating for the dignity and rights of all who work in food production. It means continuing to challenge the stereotypes that portray farming as backward or unprofitable, and instead showcasing agriculture as innovative, essential, and full of opportunity. It means building an ecosystem where farmers are entrepreneurs, where women are leaders, where youth are innovators, and where everyone has the chance to thrive.

Ten years down, and the work continues with renewed urgency and unwavering determination. The challenges facing Philippine agriculture have not diminished; they have evolved. Climate change threatens crop yields and livelihoods. Market systems remain uneven and often unfair to small producers. Young people still migrate away from rural communities in search of opportunities. But so has our capacity to respond, our network of partners, and our evidence of what works. We have proven that when farmers are equipped with knowledge, connected to markets, and supported by strong institutions, they can transform their lives and their communities. We have proven that women's empowerment in agriculture is not just a moral imperative but an economic strategy that benefits everyone. We have proven that youth can find purpose and prosperity in farming when given the right support and opportunities.

Here's to the next decade of growing hope, resilience, and shared prosperity. Here's to the farmers who will continue to feed our nation with dignity and pride. Here's to the partners who will walk alongside us in this essential work. Here's to the youth who will bring fresh ideas and boundless energy to agriculture. Here's to a future where no one goes hungry, where no farmer lives in poverty, and where agriculture is recognized as the noble, essential, and transformative force that it truly is. The past ten years have prepared us for this moment. The next ten years will define our legacy. We are ready. We are committed. We are AGREA, and we will continue to grow a better future, one harvest at a time.
