We are deeply grateful for the insightful and meaningful collaboration workshop held with the World Food Programme and AGREA Foundation, a gathering that brought together shared vision, diverse expertise, and unwavering commitment to women's empowerment in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. This workshop was more than an exchange of ideas; it was a testament to the power of partnership in creating sustainable support systems for women cooperatives who are the backbone of their communities. When organizations align around a common purpose, the impact multiplies, and the path toward inclusive development becomes clearer and more attainable.

The workshop provided a vital space for honest dialogue, strategic planning, and mutual learning. Participants shared experiences from the field, examined challenges unique to the BARMM context, and co-created strategies that honor local culture while advancing gender equity and economic opportunity. We discussed how to strengthen women's leadership within cooperatives, how to improve access to markets and financial services, and how to design programs that respond to the specific needs of women farmers, fisherfolk, and entrepreneurs in post-conflict communities. These conversations were grounded in respect for the resilience and wisdom of BARMM women, whose contributions to food security and community stability have long been underrecognized.

This collaboration reaffirmed a truth we hold at AGREA: empowering women is not a standalone initiative; it is the foundation of sustainable development. When women gain access to resources, training, and decision-making power, entire communities benefit. Children are better nourished. Households are more financially stable. Local economies become more resilient. Our work with the Women Food Producers Association in Marinduque has shown us that when women are equipped with knowledge, networks, and market linkages, they become powerful agents of change . We bring this learning to BARMM with humility, recognizing that every region has its own context, culture, and strengths. Our role is not to impose solutions but to listen, adapt, and support locally-led transformation.

The World Food Programme's expertise in food systems, humanitarian response, and gender-responsive programming complements AGREA's experience in community-based agricultural education, regenerative farming, and women's economic empowerment. Together, we are better positioned to design interventions that address both immediate needs and long-term resilience. Whether through capacity-building for women's cooperatives, facilitating access to fair markets, or integrating climate-smart practices into local agriculture, our shared commitment is to create pathways that enable women to thrive as leaders, producers, and innovators. This workshop marked an important step in translating that commitment into coordinated action.

We are inspired by the shared dedication we witnessed among all participants, the government representatives, civil society partners, community leaders, and development practitioners who believe in the potential of BARMM's women to shape a more equitable and prosperous future. Their stories, insights, and aspirations remind us why this work matters. Empowering women is not just about economic metrics; it is about dignity, agency, and the right to participate fully in the decisions that affect one's life and community. When we uplift women leaders, we strengthen the fabric of society itself.

Looking ahead, we are energized to turn these learnings into action. The strategies discussed during the workshop will inform our joint programming, ensuring that our interventions are contextually relevant, culturally respectful, and sustainably designed. We will continue to prioritize listening to women cooperatives, adapting to feedback, and measuring impact not only in outputs but in transformed lives. This partnership is not a short-term project; it is a long-term commitment to walking alongside BARMM communities as they build the future they envision.

To our partners at the World Food Programme: thank you for your trust, your expertise, and your shared passion for gender-responsive development. To the women leaders and cooperatives of BARMM: we see your strength, we honor your wisdom, and we stand with you in this journey. Together, we are creating inclusive pathways toward economic resilience, community development, and lasting peace. The work ahead will require patience, persistence, and collaboration—but we are confident that when we work hand in hand, the harvest will be abundant.
